The incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon when Rondo was pulled over in Jackson County, Indiana, while driving along Interstate 65. Indiana State Police stopped him initially for a routine traffic violation but soon detected the unmistakable scent of marijuana emanating from his vehicle.

Upon further inspection, law enforcement discovered not only marijuana but also a firearm and drug paraphernalia within Rondo’s car. The situation escalated as Rondo is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to an existing protection order against him.

All charges leveled against the 37-year-old former NBA star currently stand as misdemeanors. Following his arrest, Rondo was processed at the Jackson County Jail and later released upon posting bond.

This is not the first time Rondo has encountered legal issues. In 2022, a Louisville woman sought an emergency protective order against him, alleging threats to her life. Although the order was eventually dismissed in the following year, Rondo underwent extensive counseling, anger management courses, and a mental health evaluation as part of the resolution.

However, troubles seemed to persist as the same woman filed another emergency protective order against Rondo in March of last year, culminating in a mutually agreed order five months later. The presence of a child in Rondo’s car at the time of his arrest resulted in the child being entrusted to the care of a family member.

Rondo is slated to make a court appearance at the Jackson County Superior Court, although the date for the hearing remains pending.

Throughout his illustrious NBA career spanning 16 seasons, Rondo made significant contributions to multiple teams, notably the Celtics, with whom he clinched an NBA title in 2008. His achievements also include securing a championship ring with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

A four-time All-Star, Rondo’s impact reverberated across the league, showcasing his talent and versatility on the court. Beyond Boston, he ventured through various franchises, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.

While Rondo’s legal troubles cast a shadow over his storied career, fans and observers await developments in his legal proceedings, hoping for a resolution that does justice to his remarkable basketball legacy.
